KUALA LUMPUR (May 9): Pentamaster Corp Bhd (KL:PENTA) has appointed Hon Tuck Weng as its chief executive officer (CEO), effective Friday.
Hon, 54, has been with the company for 30 years starting his career there as a software programmer back in March 1995, the automated test equipment (ATE) and automation solutions firm said in a bourse filing.
Since May 2007, he had served as operations director, whereby he was responsible for overseeing daily operations of the group’s management information system, quality assurance and control, manufacturing facilities and internal systems and control functions, according to Pentamaster.
It is understood that the CEO position at Pentamaster has been vacant since March 2020, when Chuah Chong Ewe was redesignated as executive director. He resigned from that role a year later.
For the first quarter ended March 31, 2025 (1QFY2025), Pentamaster posted a 32.6% year-on-year drop in net profit to RM13.07 million from RM19.38 million previously.
The weaker bottom line resulted from revenue declining 22.9% to RM131.6 million versus RM170.79 million, coupled with a less favourable sales mix.
Shares in Pentamaster ended one sen or 0.37% higher at RM2.71, valuing the group at RM1.93 billion.
